Boilermaker Receives Business of the Year Award
May 29, 2008 (Utica, NY) — The Rome Chamber of Commerce, along with the Mohawk Valley Business Journal, presented the Boilermaker with the non-profit Business of the Year Award at the Chamber’s yearly meeting on Wednesday, May 28.
The ceremony took place over breakfast during the 96th annual meeting of the Rome Chamber of Commerce at the Beeches Restaurant in Rome, NY. The award was given to a local non-profit business that has a large impact on the community. According to the Chamber, the Boilermaker was chosen because it attracts visitors from all over the world and shows the best of what our area has to offer.
"We are truly proud of this honor," Tim Reed said, executive director of the Boilermaker Road Race. "Our organization hopes to help turn the Mohawk Valley into one of the healthiest communities in the country, both physically and financially."
The Boilermaker now consists of a variety of events and leads up to the world-class 15K race, which will be held at 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2008.
The Boilermaker Road Race is the premier event of the National Distance Running Hall of Fame’s annual Hall of Fame Weekend. The race consistently attracts elite runners from all over the world, including Olympians and world record holders, and features distance running’s most enthusiastic fans, as well as the sport’s best post-race party hosted at The F.X. Matt Brewing Company.
