UTICA, N.Y. (March 5, 2024) – The Boilermaker Walk presented by Slocum-Dickson Medical Group will open registration for 2024 at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. The event will continue to be held at Mohawk Valley Community College’s (MVCC) Utica Campus the day before the Boilermaker Road Race, but walkers will notice several key changes, including an earlier start time and flexible walk distance.
The 2024 Boilermaker Walk will begin at 11 a.m., an hour earlier than in previous years, in response to participant feedback. The earlier start time promises cooler temperatures for walkers without interfering with the Utica National Kids Run, also occurring on MVCC’s Utica Campus that morning.
For the first time, participants can choose their preferred walk distance. Throughout the course, which traverses both T.R. and F.T. Proctor Parks, signage will indicate turnaround points for various distances. The full walk will be 3.75 miles.
“The Boilermaker Walk presented by Slocum-Dickson Medical Group provides an additional opportunity to be a part of the Boilermaker experience,” said Boilermaker President Mark Donovan. “We want everyone, regardless of fitness status, to be able to participate in the energy and excitement of Boilermaker Weekend, and we’re thrilled to make these changes to better support our participants.”
The Boilermaker Walk will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at MVCC in Utica. The course begins at MVCC before traveling through T.R. and F.T. Proctor Parks, covering a variety of terrain including asphalt, gravel, and grass. Registration is $8 and includes a commemorative bib and exclusive collectible pin. Walkers can pick up their bib in the Performance Gym at MVCC on Friday, July 12, or early Saturday, July 13, and explore the Health & Wellness Expo presented by MVHS before or after their walk.
