UTICA, N.Y. (April 2nd, 2025) – In celebration of National Walking Day, registration for the Boilermaker Walk presented by Slocum-Dickson Medical Group has opened. The walk takes place at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) Utica Campus on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
The walk will start and finish at the beautiful MVCC Utica campus, making its way along Culver Avenue, into T.R. Proctor Park, and then on to F.T. Proctor Park, covering a variety of terrain including asphalt, gravel, and grass. The course highlights Utica’s parks, funded by the Proctor family and designed by the Olmsted family. The full course is 3 ¾ miles out and back, but there will be turnaround signage at key points indicating the distance.
“We want walkers to choose whatever distance they feel comfortable walking,” said India Paschal, marketing manager at the Boilermaker. “The goal is to get out and get moving, so listen to your body’s cues regarding when it’s time to turn around.”
Registration for the walk can be accessed via www.boilermaker.com. The fee for either distance is $8, and all registered walkers will receive a commemorative walk bib and finisher’s pin. Bib and pin pickup will be held in the Performance Gym of the Jorgensen Center on the MVCC Utica campus during the Expo hours (Friday, July 11th from noon to 7:00 pm or Saturday, July 12th beginning at 8:00 am).
